Easy Bavarian Pretzel Burger
These Bavarian Pretzel burgers are delicious and kid-friendly. Simply made and filled with lean ground beef, garlic, onions, and flavorful au jus.
Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 tablespoon butter
- 1 1 packet Au Jus gravy mix
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 12 Swiss cheese slices
- 6 Bavarian Pretzel rolls
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350˚F.Place a large skillet over medium/high heat with 1/2 Tbsp olive oil. Add diced onion then 1 pound ground beef and break up with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Sautee over medium/high heat, breaking up the beef, and cook just until cooked, add garlic, cook 1 minute. Remove from heat. Spoon off and discard excess fat. Stir in half a cup of water and packet au jus. Simmer over low heat stirring often until the mixture is well blended and not watery. About 2 – 3 minutes. Slice pretzel rolls and lay halves on a baking pan. Place two slices of Swiss per sandwich. Spread ground beef mixture evenly over the sliced cheese. Bake at 350˚F for 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted.Remove the sandwiches from the oven and allow them to cool for a couple of minutes.
