Easy Classic Slow-Cooker Mississippi Mud Roast

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe
Mississippi Mud Roast is the best, tender, and juicy roast you will ever eat. It is so easy to make!

Slow-Cooker Mississippi Pork has only 5 ingredients! Pork tenderloins, ranch dressing mix, Au Jus gravy mix, butter, and pepperoncini or banana peppers. So flavorful! This has become one of my favorite pulled pork recipes.  Add 1 pound of fresh carrots and baby potatoes for an easy meal. Tastes great on top of mashed potatoes or noodles.

Mississippi Mud Roast is also wonderful on top of mashed potatoes. These Garlic Mashed Potatoes are made with roasted garlic, Parmesan cheese, and fresh basil.

Equipment

  • Slow cooker

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds boneless chuck or pot roast
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 packet ranch mix
  • 1 packet au jus mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 5-8 pepperoncini peppers
  • 1/2 cup juice from pepperoncini jar

Instructions

  • Take a paper towel and make sure you dry both sides of the roast.
Heat the oil in a large skillet set over high heat. You want it really hot here to brown the beef quickly.
Place the roast in the pan and brown on all sides, 4 to 5 minutes a side, to create a crust. Remove roast from pan and place it in the bowl of a slow cooker.
Pour pepperoncini juice over the roast. Next, sprinkle packets of dry ranch dressing and au jus mix. Cut up butter and place on top. Top with pepperoncini.
Cook for 8-10 hours on low. Once tender, remove the roast and shred using two forks. Return to the slow-cooker and stir well. Serve on a bun or on top of mashed potatoes.
