Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh asparagus, trimmed 1 inch from the bottom, if hard
  • 6 slices bacon or 1/2 cup pre-cooked real bacon crumbles
  • 1/3 cup  parmesan cheese, grated
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 lemon, cut in wedges for garnish (Optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 °F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone liner.
Arrange the trimmed asparagus spears in a single layer on the baking sheet. In a small bowl, mix olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper together.
Coat asparagus evenly with olive oil using a pastry brush.
Roast until the asparagus is tender but still crisp and starting to brown, about 12 minutes. This may take longer for thicker asparagus spears.
Transfer the spears to a serving plate and sprinkle with bacon and parmesan. Garnish with lemon slices, if desired.
